Impulsively he bought an old house that needs a lot of work, and he's living there with his husky, Elvis, a master escape artist. When a young husky dog shows up on Davey Childs's ranch, he takes it to the vet, only to discover the irresponsible owner is the grown-up version of the boy he had a crush on in high school.

This box set was a nice little bunch of novellas, I loved the overlaps in the first three books. I’ve read them separately before, but it’s nice to have context when reading the stories.
The Northstar had a great premise, with John owning a movie theatre in trouble, and Chance flying across the ocean to fulfill his mother’s dying wish. There he finds the love of his life and spends time convincing John to let him in, along with a little kitten they rescue. Sweetly romantic.
Edmund, Chance’s best friend, meets Owen in Over the Hill, and their attraction gets a chance to grow into love as Edmund supports Owen when his great great aunt has a fall and he needs to go see her. They end up in a cozy cabin in a storm, and see this is their chance to be together.
Jude and Cullen meet through an error, both landing at the cabin Edmund and Owen went to. Jude is the cranky boss of Owen, and is looking for quiet to make decisions about his career. Cullen is nursing a broken heart, and they listen to each other without judgement. Once Jude can relax and be less grumpy, he realizes he hates his business and it’s time to move on. Cullen also needs to move on from his ex, and in learning this, the two find each other. Fun grumpy guy and gentler giant story.
The last instalment, Live Comes Home, is a Christmas story of Milo and Davey, who knew each other as teens, but get a second chance when Milo comes home. He’s become a rockstar, but is burnt out, and yet feels guilty letting his band down. However, Davey’s life is full of kindness and caring for the people and animals around him, and the spark when they were kids is still there.
